These terms explain how referrals work. They are part of our Terms of Service (fixrally.com/terms).
What applies today. The current version of FixRally supports tracked referrals only (sections 1 to 6, 14 and 15). FixRally moves no money. Sections 7 to 13 describe features for a later version. Each of them starts with the words "Available in a later version; not in effect until enabled in the app." None of them applies until we enable it in the app and you agree to it.
1. Words we use
- Referrer: the pro or Member who refers a customer.
- Customer: the person who needs the work.
- Responding pro: a pro who responds to a referral. The chosen pro is the one the customer picks.
- Lead: one referral for one trade. A referral for three trades is three leads.
- Link page: the FixRally page the referrer's link opens (fixrally.com/c/ followed by a private code).
2. Who can refer
2.1. Pros and Members can refer. Vendors cannot.
2.2. Business owners can refer any customer. Technicians can refer residential customers only if the owner turned referrals on for them. Only owners can refer commercial customers. Fees belong to the business, not the technician.
2.3. You are responsible for whether you may lawfully give or receive a referral fee where you and the customer are. Some states and trades limit referral fees, or limit who may receive them. If a fee is not allowed, do not agree to one.
3. How a referral reaches the customer
3.1. The referrer creates the referral in the app: the trade, the area, and notes or photos about the job.
3.2. FixRally sends nothing to the customer. The referrer shares the link from their own phone, by text, WhatsApp or email. Share a link only with a customer who wants the referral.
3.3. On the link page, the customer gives a first name, a mobile number and, optionally, an email, and agrees to the Customer Terms. Texts are a separate, optional choice (see fixrally.com/sms).
3.4. Pros see the lead only after the customer sends the request on the link page.
3.5. If a link is not opened, only the referrer is reminded, by push notification or email.
4. How pros respond and the customer chooses
4.1. Up to 5 pros can be active on a lead at the same time. We decide which pros are offered a lead using factors such as reputation, response speed, distance, and whether the pro is new to FixRally. The referrer's connections, or the group a referral is posted in, may get the first chance to respond.
4.2. Responding pros and the customer can chat in FixRally. Phone numbers, emails and addresses typed into a lead chat are masked until the customer chooses a pro.
4.3. Quotes are structured: price, scope and terms.
4.4. The customer chooses freely, and does not have to choose anyone.
4.5. If the customer does not choose a pro within 7 days, the lead closes.
5. The referral fee
5.1. In tracked referrals the fee is an agreement between the referrer and the chosen pro. FixRally suggests a fee from the schedule below. The referrer may offer a lower fee, never a higher one. The fee shown in the app when the pro accepts the lead is the fee you both agreed.
5.2. The fee is based on the winning quote: the price in the quote the customer chose. Later changes to the price do not change the fee unless both of you agree.
5.3. The app shows the exact fee for any quote amount you type in.
5.4. Suggested schedule. The brackets are marginal: each rate applies only to the part of the quote inside that bracket.
| Part of the winning quote | Suggested fee |
|---|---|
| Quotes under $150 | $15 flat |
| $150 to $500 | 10% |
| $500 to $1,000 | $50, plus 8% of the amount above $500 |
| $1,000 to $2,500 | $90, plus 6% of the amount above $1,000 |
| $2,500 to $5,000 | $180, plus 5% of the amount above $2,500 |
| Over $5,000 | $305, plus 4% of the amount above $5,000 |
5.5. Minimum fee $15. Maximum fee $600. The maximum is reached at a quote of $12,375.
5.6. Examples: $100 quote = $15. $400 quote = $40. $800 quote = $74. $2,000 quote = $150. $10,000 quote = $505. $20,000 quote = $600.
5.7. We may change the suggested schedule. A change applies only to leads posted after it.
6. Tracked referrals
6.1. No money moves through FixRally. The referrer and the chosen pro settle the agreed fee directly between themselves.
6.2. The chosen pro marks the job done and enters the final price. Both sides see the referral in a ledger and a monthly statement. The chosen pro marks the fee "paid" once they pay it.
6.3. If the chosen pro does not confirm within 30 days, the referral is marked "unconfirmed" in both ledgers.
6.4. FixRally does not collect, hold, guarantee or enforce tracked referral fees. The ledger is a shared record, not a bill from FixRally. Any dispute about a tracked fee is between the referrer and the chosen pro.
7. Fee-only card charge
Available in a later version; not in effect until enabled in the app.
7.1. The referrer may choose fee-only mode for a lead. The chosen pro's card on file with FixRally is charged the referral fee when the customer picks them. Only the chosen pro is charged. Other responding pros are not charged and no amount is held on their cards.
7.2. The customer's contact details are shared with the chosen pro once the charge succeeds. The pro bills the customer directly, outside FixRally.
7.3. One lead, one fee: FixRally charges only one fee per lead.
7.4. New referrers. A referrer with fewer than 5 completed referrals is paid only after the chosen pro marks the job started, or after 30 days with no flag. New referrers may have no more than 3 open fee-only referrals. After 2 upheld flags, the referrer's account is frozen and the related fees are refunded to the pros.
7.5. Refunds follow section 9.
8. Customer pays through FixRally
Available in a later version; not in effect until enabled in the app.
8.1. The customer pays the full quote plus a 5% customer fee on a FixRally pay page. The total, including the customer fee, is shown before the customer pays. There are no deposits.
8.2. Payments are made through a third-party payment processor, which holds the funds until the job is done. FixRally does not provide escrow and is not a licensed money transmitter.
8.3. The customer's contact details are shared with the chosen pro once the payment clears.
8.4. Changes to the scope go through a change order that the customer approves and pays on the same page.
8.5. Release. The release clock starts when FixRally receives the pro's completion, not when the customer paid. The customer is asked to confirm the job is done. Funds are released when the customer confirms, or 7 days after completion if the customer has not raised a dispute. If the job is reopened, release pauses and the 7 days restart at the new completion.
8.6. Split. The pro receives the quote minus the referral fee and minus the processor's card fee on the pro's portion, shown before the pro accepts. The referrer receives the referral fee minus FixRally's share (section 12). FixRally keeps the customer fee and its share of the referral fee.
8.7. No completion. If the job is not marked complete within 30 days of payment, we contact the customer and open the refund process.
8.8. Disputes. If the customer raises a dispute before release, the release is paused while we review the information both sides give us.
9. Refunds
Available in a later version; not in effect until enabled in the app.
9.1. Fee-only refund rule. The chosen pro gets a full refund of the fee if:
- the customer picks another pro from the same lead within 14 days; or
- the lead is invalid.
Apart from those two cases, there is no refund once the pro and the customer have spoken, for example if the customer later cancels, hires no one, or finds the price too high.
9.2. Invalid lead means one of these:
- fake: the customer did not ask for the work, or the request is made up;
- duplicate: the same customer and job already reached that pro through FixRally;
- unreachable: the pro made reasonable attempts to reach the customer through the contact details given, the customer never responded, and the customer did not confirm contact when we asked them;
- outside trade or area: the job is outside the trades or service area the pro had listed when the lead was offered.
9.3. To claim a refund, the pro reports the lead in the app with the reason. A refund for an unreachable lead is not, by itself, a finding of fraud against the referrer.
9.4. A refund returns the full fee to the pro. The referrer's share and FixRally's share of that fee are reversed.
9.5. Customer-pays mode. If the job is cancelled before any work starts, or the payment fails because of fraud or an invalid lead, the customer is refunded in full, including the customer fee. Other refunds follow the dispute process in section 8.8.
10. Payouts
Available in a later version; not in effect until enabled in the app.
10.1. Money earned becomes eligible for payout 14 days after the event that earns it, such as a release or a fee charge. It is paid on the next payout run. Payout runs happen every two weeks, so a payout normally arrives 14 to 28 days after the event, or later if a hold applies. There are no instant payouts.
10.2. Payouts go to a connected account with our payment processor. The processor collects your identity, bank and tax details. You must complete its checks to be paid.
10.3. Payouts can be sent only to countries our payment processor supports for our platform. We will tell you before you post a referral if payouts are not available where you are.
10.4. We may hold a payout while we investigate fraud or a dispute.
10.5. You are responsible for taxes on your earnings.
11. FixRally credit
Available in a later version; not in effect until enabled in the app.
11.1. FixRally credit is a promotional balance we may give you. It can buy only AI questions, extra posts, profile boosts and course promotion. It has no cash value.
11.2. Earned money is never converted to credit. Money you earn stays payable to you. If you have not set up payouts, we will remind you. Amounts that stay unclaimed are handled under applicable unclaimed-property law.
12. FixRally's share
Available in a later version; not in effect until enabled in the app.
12.1. In fee-only and customer-pays modes, FixRally keeps 10% of each referral fee, or 8% if the referrer is on the Pro plan and 6% on the Business plan. The referrer receives the rest.
12.2. When FixRally itself is the referrer, FixRally keeps the whole fee.
12.3. FixRally takes no share of tracked referral fees.
13. Verified badge
Available in a later version; not in effect until enabled in the app.
13.1. The verified badge states the date of the check and the date the badge expires. For example: "The business owner's license number and background check were verified on March 3, 2027. The badge expires on March 3, 2028."
13.2. It is a point-in-time check, not a warranty. It does not promise that a license is still active, that insurance is in force, or that a pro is qualified or safe.
13.3. Background checks will require your separate consent.
14. Fraud and abuse
14.1. Fake customers, fake jobs, self-referrals and sharing a link with someone who did not want it are fraud. We may cancel the referrals and ban the accounts involved.
14.2. Do not use a lead's information for anything other than that job.
14.3. Do not intentionally evade a referral fee you agreed to in the app (Terms of Service, section 19). Settling a tracked fee directly between pros is allowed.
15. Changes
We may change these terms. Material changes are announced in the app or by email at least 30 days before they take effect, and do not apply to leads already posted.
